Sylwia Ok offers a full service photography experience and makes sure each portrait session is tailored and designed to her client’s expectations starting from the first phone call and questionnaire to delivering their photography products.
Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions, but you are always welcome to contact Sylwia and ask your question either over the phone or by filling the contact form above.
I’M NOT A PHONE PERSON AND I HAVE A BUSY WORK/LIFE SCHEDULE. CAN WE SET EVERYTHING OVER THE PHONE?
With your initial inquiry I will send you my Welcome Email that explains my portrait experience. The first step in setting up your session is the questionnaire that you can fill in online at your convenience. While majority of the communication can be done via email, I do ask to have at least two phone call conversations: first one right after your questionnaire is in, so I can personally introduce myself, explain my process and answer any question that you might have and book your session, and the second one for your pre-session consultation so I can start designing process of your session.
WHY SHOULD I FILL IN THE QUESTIONNAIRE?
Questionnaire is my first step to get to know you and your photography needs. It consists of 10 simple questions about your style, colors and what you like, so the portraits I design for you will not only portray my esthetics and vision, but most importantly include your personality.
WHY IS PRE-SESSION CONSULTATION SO IMPORTANT?
I strongly believe that this part of the session process is the most important and I pride myself in exceptional customer service. First, you will have a chance to meet me, tour my studio and start choosing your props and colors for your session. We will talk about all the littlest details so I can create a perfect session for you and design a unique art for your home. This will eliminate any stress and make you feel comfortable and relaxed on a day of the session.
I always encourage you to find a spare half an hour and meet me at my studio, but I do understand that this might not be always feasible; therefore you can request a phone pre-session consultation instead.
HOW TO BOOK THE SESSION?
The easiest way to book the session is to call the studio and set it up personally. Sylwia takes on limited number of sessions each month, so it’s never too early to call and check on availability. A portrait session contract (online form that needs to be signed) and a retainer (that equals the creative fee of your session) are required to book your session.
DO YOU OFFER HAIR AND MAKEUP SERVICE?
While most of my clients have their own trusted hair / makeup stylist, I do have a list of MUAs and will be happy to add it to your portrait experience. Additional fees will apply directly to MUAs.
WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY MATERNITY PORTRAITS SCHEDULED?
I usually recommend having your maternity portrait done when you are 30-36 weeks into your pregnancy. If you’re outside of my recommended timeframe, call/email me and we can discuss it further.
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER MATERNITY PORTRAIT?
I encourage all expecting moms to be photographed. Please refer to my Maternity Session info for more information.
WHEN IS THE BEST TO PHOTOGRAPH MY BABY’S MILESTONES?
Your child can be photographed anytime and I have experience with any age, especially all the milestones within the first year. While I would love to take your child’s portrait every month, I do understand that this might be not feasible for most families. I usually recommend a tummy time stage (around 4 months), sitting stage (around 6-7 months) and sweet first birthday celebration (12 months).
DO YOU PROVIDE A CAKE FOR 1ST BIRTHDAY CAKE SMASH SESSION?
I love making those cute little simple smash cakes for my little clients. However if your child has known allergies, I usually ask the parent to coordinate the cake part, to make sure the ingredients used in the cake will not affect your child’s health.
WHAT IF I ONLY WANT DIGITAL FILES?
My studio provides a full boutique photography experience with high quality photography products. Each album comes with low resolution watermarked images that were included in the album, with the option to upgrade to high-resolution files with print release. Each wall art (16×20 or bigger) comes with the corresponding high-resolution file.
Digital negatives are also available to purchase separately, but since I’m giving unlimited printing rights to my creative work, they are slightly more expensive option.
WHAT IS THE ORDERING APPOINTMENT?
Approximately a week after your session we will meet again, either in my studio or at the comfort of your home. I will present your gallery and help you decide on your photography products. I have all the samples of the fine art products that I offer (those that you might already seen during pre-session consultation). I love custom designing fine art albums for my clients, and that seems like the most popular route these days for so many of my sessions.
But I will also use my expertise to guide you through the process of choosing which images would look the best over the crib in the nursery or over the mantle, if you prefer the printed wall art. With my special custom application, I can easily take a snapshot of the wall and show you exactly how those portraits will look on your wall, eliminating the mistake in the size.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I BUDGET FOR MY PORTRAIT SESSION?
I work with clients of any budget. In my studio is all about quality over quantity, but even if your budget is on the lower side, you can either choose smaller collection or request a payment plan. My average client spend anywhere between $800 to $2000, while some clients spends more. For your convenience I do accept all major credit cards.
WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE?
Custom photography might feel more expensive than any chain portrait studio in the mall, but it offers a completely different boutique portrait experience for you and your family. I’m not only an artist but also a certified professional photographer that is fully trained to create exceptional and consistent work. Most of my clients leaves the studio not just with digital files, but beautifully handcrafted fine art albums and wall art pieces, so they can enjoy their portraits every day.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE MY ALBUM OR WALL ART COLLECTION COMPLETED?
It usually takes about 2-4 weeks to complete your order. You will be notified as soon as your album is completed and I will schedule the delivery/pick up time with you.
