IPC SILVER MEDALIST 2016

INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION 2016

Sylwia Ok Named IPC Silver Medalist at International Photographic Competition

My own pregnancy and taking extended maternity leave for my beautiful baby girl was definitely my main focus last year. But despite putting my business on the back burner, I have never stopped working on improving my skills and brainstorming ideas for future, partially thanks to all those sleepless nights and hours spent on a rocking chair while breastfeeding. In June, right before Sophie was born, I selected and sent 4 images for International Photographic Competition. During live judging in August and saw all my 4 images getting merit with one of them even going into Loan Collection, which ultimately gave me an IPC Silver Medalist status. To top off my excitement, the image that went Loan was part of my own personal project – my auto-portrait in Sophie’s nursery when I was anxiously waiting on her arrival. I can’t wait to attend annual ImagingUSA later this week and celebrate with other medalists Grand Imaging Awards next Monday evening.

PRESS RELEASE

Sylwia Ok of Sylwia Ok Photography is honored by peers and jurors for high-quality photography

Pasadena, MD – Sylwia Ok of Sylwia Ok Photography in Pasadena, MD was named a Silver Medalist during Professional Photographers of America’s 2016 International Photographic Competition. Ok’s work will be on display at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 8-10, 2017. This International Photographic Exhibit is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers.

A panel of 46 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,700 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 2,428 images were selected for the General Collection and 1,007 were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book and over 200 selected General Collection images will be published in the “Showcase” book by Marathon Press.

The level of the award is determined by how many of those four images receive the highest possible honor: acceptance into the PPA Loan Collection, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions and other photography events. Ok was named a Silver Medalist, meaning that one of her four merited images entered the PPA Loan Collection. In 2016, she was one of only 139 Silver Medalists.
